Ok, there’s no nationally declared day…yet. So, I’m unofficially declaring Fridays, Yoga Play Day! We often take yoga WAY too seriously, so take a step back, and then a step forward, and make it fun. Clear out the dharmic cob webs and shake your yoga booty. Spark your creative tapas with energizing music and let it take over . Renew your love of yoga with creative freestyle poses and kick your own asana.
Forget the routine you could do in your sleep
Leave the DVD in the case, at least
Ditch the spa playlist
Frolic on your mat like a kid in a sprinkler
Let down your guard and do your own yoga thang
Act like you’ve just been kissed
Who cares what you look like today & every day
Your practice will arise from within
Dance through your poses
Sneak in a caterpillar instead of chaturanga
Roll back and forth as long as it takes to get a little dizzy
Get lost in the music
Get lost in yourself
Play air instruments between poses
Sing along with Gotye
Sweat & get winded
Feel the energy arise from your core
Laugh & scream at the judgmental voice in your head
Sink into frog pose, ribbit and catch flies with your tongue
Are you wearing clothes? Why?
Listen to your heart
Do the Snoopy dance
Sink into a meditative trance
Turn up the Zero 7
Do jumping jacks & twirl around
Take a bow and lay down
Don’t worry, no one’s looking

Awesome! I love that you put in ‘snoopy dance’, I have been known to throw in a snoopy dance or two. And when I feel my class getting toooo serious, we do Commando Crawl, It requires clothing, but someone always makes a comment about underwear being optional and the giggles commence 🙂
Then theres the pose I love to call “the honey I’m home” tee hee (aka Frog)
