I get excited about the little things: hugging a bunch of warm towels fresh out of the dryer; cooking and baking on Sundays; my first child’s pose of the morning; the smell of old books; rubbing two canine bellies when I get home from work; and the ultimate — opening a freshly purchased journal.
While I have a laptop and an iPad, l still do a lot of writing the old fashioned way — with a pen and paper. Finding said journal is no small task, but it’s the process, that I love most. I love the journey of discovering a the next book in I’ll capture my daily musings.
And, I love the journey of discovery that awaits when I scribble on the first page.
I’ve been writing in a journal since my first Hello Kitty diary, but rediscovered writing when I went through yoga teacher training. We had a regular practice of writing after our morning meditation. At first, I would get frustrated that I didn’t have something more prolific and beautiful to compose, but eventually realize that even if only wrote a single word from the heart, it WAS beautiful.
I think we forget that life experiences don’t have to be huge rites of passage to be meaningful and blissful. When we rejoice in the process of stringing beads of experience on the the thread of life, we have come home.
May you rejoice in the hug of the perfect cup of coffee. May you rejoice in the little things.
Namaste.

Love it. “May you rejoice in the hug of the perfect cup of coffee.” – That may be the best sentence I’ve read this year. ❤
